New connected and cooperative technologies will have a big impact
Cooperative corridors is about the movement of people and goods along the highways, the large transport corridors between countries and the corridors to harbors, airports, event sites etc. To avoid congestion, estimate accurate journey times, assure safety of road users and minimize emission, new connected and cooperative technologies will have a big impact.
How does this work? To have a fully cooperative road there are several elements to consider. For instance lights are connected to solar panels, they will also adjust to the intensity of traffic. A big part of cooperative is the V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2I (vehicle-to-infrastructure) communication. This will allow for example truck platooning and intelligent control of bridges, tunnels and sluices. All of these solutions are developed in close cooperation with national highway agencies and the transport and automotive sector. Dynniq is investing a lot of research in European programs around cooperative driving.
